Three of Lebanon's most dramatic natural and spiritual landmarks — underground, mountaintop, and deep in a mountain gorge — in one private day from Beirut. Jeita Grotto: a UNESCO tentative World Heritage Site and New 7 Wonders of Nature finalist, 9 kilometres of limestone cave system beneath the Lebanese mountains. Harissa: the iconic mountaintop shrine reached by cable car, 650 metres above the Mediterranean. Baatara Gorge Waterfall: one of the most extraordinary geological formations in the Middle East — a 255-metre waterfall dropping through a natural limestone bridge system carved over millions of years, completely hidden until you reach the rim.
Private vehicle and knowledgeable local driver throughout. An optional lunch stop in Byblos on the return. Entrance tickets payable on site.
Pickup is available from any Hotel, Airbnb or Residence in Beirut.
9:00 AM — Departure from Beirut Your driver meets the group at your hotel and heads north — Jeita Grotto is 30 minutes away and the day begins underground.
Jeita Grotto — UNESCO tentative site · New 7 Wonders finalist Two cave systems, two completely different experiences. The upper cave on foot — stalactites and stalagmites up to 8 metres tall, formed over millions of years into formations of extraordinary scale and beauty. The lower cave by silent electric boat — gliding along an underground river through chambers of absolute stillness. One of the most spectacular natural experiences in the Middle East, 30 minutes from Beirut. Entrance fee payable on site. Photography not permitted inside. Lower cave boat ride may close during high water seasons.
Harissa cable car — 650 metres above the Mediterranean Board the Téléférique at Jounieh seafront and ride up to 650 metres as Jounieh Bay opens dramatically below — one of the most photographed views in Lebanon. Your driver points out the coastal landmarks as you ascend.
Our Lady of Lebanon — the mountaintop shrine The 8.5-metre bronze statue of Our Lady of Lebanon — arms outstretched toward the Mediterranean, one of the most visited religious monuments in the Middle East. The Maronite Basilica and neighbouring churches surround it. Panoramic views over the entire Lebanese coast. Revered by Christians and Muslims alike.
Baatara Gorge Waterfall — Lebanon's most spectacular natural formation Nothing prepares you for Baatara. A path through pine forest leads to a viewing platform at the rim of a natural limestone sinkhole — and there, 255 metres below, a waterfall drops through three natural stone bridges carved by millions of years of erosion, disappearing into a cavern carved by the same forces. The Baatara Gorge is one of the most extraordinary geological formations in the Middle East — the waterfall feeds an underground river that eventually surfaces kilometres away, and the entire structure was carved by water alone over millions of years. Best visited between February and May when the waterfall is at full flow, but spectacular year-round. Your driver covers the geological story and the local significance of this remarkable site throughout the visit.
Lunch in Byblos — optional A natural stop on the return to Beirut — fresh Lebanese mezze and seafood at a waterfront Byblos restaurant, the ancient fishing harbour as backdrop. Optional and at your own expense. Your driver knows the best spots.
Return to Beirut — approx. 5:30–6:30 PM Drop-off at your Beirut hotel — underground caves, a mountaintop shrine, and one of the most extraordinary waterfalls on earth, covered exclusively in a single private day.
