    Great Plaza

This stunning open space is surrounded by some of Tikal's most iconic structures: The imposing Temple of the Great Jaguar (Temple I), built as a tomb of the ruler Jasaw Chan K'awiil I, one of the most important figures in the history of the city. Just opposite, Temple II (Temple of Masks), from where you get one of the best panoramic views of the entire square. And the Mayan Ball Game, where rituals that went beyond sport were performed, linked to the worldview and the balance between the earthly and spiritual worlds. Here, every structure tells a story... from sacred rituals to the political power that dominated much of the Mayan world. This is undoubtedly one of the most striking moments of the tour, where the greatness of Tikal is revealed in all its glory, surrounded by the jungle and wrapped in an atmosphere that connects past and present.

    Lost World

Design and structure: The square is very wide and rectangular, with several platforms and stairs that served for public rituals and religious ceremonies. Its construction reflects the Mayan mastery of architecture and urban planning. Social and ceremonial function: It was used as a gathering place for the community, as well as a place for astronomical observations, as the structures around it are aligned with important solar events, such as solstices and equinoxes. Surrounded by rainforest, the square offers a magical and silent atmosphere, where the sounds of birds and monkeys create a living and enveloping environment for those who visit. Visitor experience: Walking through the square allows you to imagine the life of the ancient Mayans, their rituals and celebrations, making it feel like you are treading on a real lost world, almost intact after more than two thousand years of history.
