The day begins comfortably in your hotel lobby, where your guide will be waiting to welcome you. To facilitate identification, your guide will have the name of the main traveler and the reservation details. From there you will embark on a journey of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes towards Tikal. As we leave the inhabited areas and gradually venture into the jungle, the landscape changes and the magic of Petén begins to be felt. Upon arriving at Tikal National Park, the real adventure will begin. For approximately 4 hours you will tour this extraordinary Mayan city accompanied by your guide, walking along ancient causeways and trails surrounded by jungle, discovering imposing temples, plazas, and structures that remained hidden among the vegetation for centuries.
The Great Plaza of Tikal is the heart of the ancient city and one of the most impressive scenes of the Maya world. Upon arrival, you will find yourself surrounded by monumental temples, ancient acropolises, and structures that for centuries were the political, religious, and ceremonial center. In front of you rises the majestic Temple I, known as the Temple of the Great Jaguar, while on the other side of the plaza is Temple II or the Temple of the Masks. From this extraordinary space you will be able to appreciate the greatness of Tikal and understand why this city was one of the most important centers of the Mayan civilization. The Great Plaza is not simply a place to take photographs: it is the space where the history of Tikal comes alive. Temple of the Great Jaguar or Temple I, is the designation given to one of the main structures of Tikal, Temple I served as a ceremonial and ritual place, considered the door to the underworld, the remains of the Ruler Hasaw Chaan Kawil were found within said construction.
The Temple of the High Priest, or Temple III, is a funeral-ceremonial temple, which was built in 810 AD, a building that is part of the largest city of the late Classic Mayan period, its construction was supervised by King Nu Bak Chak II, known as “Dark Sun”.
The walk to the temple is part of the adventure. As you advance along ancient paths surrounded by the jungle, the sounds of nature accompany the journey until you reach this monumental structure. Then, we will begin the return to Flores, once again enjoying the landscape and putting an end to an unforgettable day in the heart of the Mayan world.
At the end of this incredible experience, the service concludes with the transfer back to your hotel or to Flores. If you have a later flight that same day, you can make the most of your time in Petén. You will have the opportunity to visit the charming Island of Flowers, walk through its picturesque streets, enjoy the beautiful views of the lake, and take photographs before your return. At 6:00 PM, the transfer will take place from Flores to Mundo Maya International Airport, so you can take your return flight after having visited one of the most beautiful islands in the heart of Petén.
