Tikal is much more than a city of ancient temples. This experience combines archaeology, jungle, and wildlife in one tour.
While discovering the most important plazas, temples, and complexes of Tikal, you will walk along ancient paths surrounded by tropical jungle. During the tour you can hear the sounds of nature and, if conditions allow, observe howler monkeys, spider monkeys, toucans, ocelated turkeys, coatis, and other species in their natural habitat.
The experience allows you to know the greatness of the Mayan civilization while discovering the natural environment that protected this extraordinary city for centuries.

If you have a flight that same day, you will have time to enjoy Flores Island before your transfer to the airport at 6:00 pm.

1Flores
"I LOVE PETÉN" meeting, 7:30 am on Flores Island. From there we will travel to the jungle to discover Tikal, one of the great cities of the ancient Mayan civilization. The person who comes for you has your name to identify you, if someone else says "Tikal tour" and doesn't have your name, ignore it.

2Tikal Visitor Center
Upon arriving at the Tikal Visitor Center, you will see the scale model that allows you to appreciate the magnitude of this ancient Mayan city. After entering the park, a hike through the jungle trails will begin, surrounded by nature and wildlife. During the tour, your local guide will share the history, culture, flora, and fauna of Tikal while discovering its main structures. Finally, it will arrive at the impressive Central Plaza, one of the most emblematic places in this ancient Mayan city.

3Great Plaza
It will arrive at the Grand Plaza, the heart of Tikal, where the majesty of the ancient Mayan city is revealed among the jungle. Temple I, known as the Great Jaguar, and Temple II or Temple of the Masks rise, surrounded by ancient acropolises and stelae. Here you will have time to appreciate the architecture, learn about the history of the Mayan rulers, and enjoy one of the most impressive settings in Tikal. A must-see stop to feel the greatness of this ancient city.

4Tikal Temple III
The imposing Temple III, known as the Temple of the Great Priest, appears, one of the great structures of Tikal. Built around the year 810 AD, it holds one of the most fascinating details of the site: an ancient carved wooden lintel depicting a ruler dressed in jaguar skin. Surrounded by the jungle and with its majestic roof comb rising among the trees, this temple allows one to imagine the power and grandeur that Tikal achieved during the Classic Maya period.

5Temple IV
It will arrive at the imposing Temple IV, the tallest structure in Tikal, with approximately 70 meters in height. From its summit you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the jungle, where the crests of other temples rise above an immense green sea. This place also has a special connection with cinema: Tikal was used as a set to represent the rebel base on Yavin 4 in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. From here you can see the same landscape that appeared in one of the most memorable scenes of the movie.

6Lost World
Lost World is one of the most fascinating corners of Tikal, where the jungle and Mayan architecture meet in perfect harmony. Here you will discover the impressive Great Pyramid, one of the oldest structures in the city, while your guide transports us to the time when Tikal was a powerful ceremonial center. Walking among its ancient constructions, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle, makes this visit an authentic and memorable experience.

7Tikal
After discovering the main temples, squares, and corners of Tikal, he will leave the jungle to go to a local restaurant where he will enjoy a delicious lunch. It will be the perfect time to relax, share the experiences of the tour, and enjoy the flavors of Guatemala before beginning your return to Flores.

8Flores
After completing their visit to Tikal and enjoying lunch, they will begin the return to Flores. If you have a scheduled flight, you can also finish the tour at Mundo Maya Airport, so you can continue your trip comfortably and without worries.
