Upon arriving at the Tikal Visitor Center, you will see the scale model that allows you to appreciate the magnitude of this ancient Mayan city. After entering the park, a hike through the jungle trails will begin, surrounded by nature and wildlife. During the tour, your local guide will share the history, culture, flora, and fauna of Tikal while discovering its main structures. Finally, it will arrive at the impressive Central Plaza, one of the most emblematic places in this ancient Mayan city.
It will arrive at the Grand Plaza, the heart of Tikal, where the majesty of the ancient Mayan city is revealed among the jungle. Temple I, known as the Great Jaguar, and Temple II or Temple of the Masks rise, surrounded by ancient acropolises and stelae. It will arrive at the imposing Temple IV, the tallest structure in Tikal, with approximately 70 meters in height. From its summit you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the jungle, where the crests of other temples rise above an immense green sea. This place also has a special connection with cinema: Tikal was used as a set to represent the rebel base on Yavin 4 in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. From here you can see the same landscape that appeared in one of the most memorable scenes of the movie.
Lost World is one of the most fascinating corners of Tikal, where the jungle and Mayan architecture meet in perfect harmony. Here you will discover the impressive Great Pyramid, one of the oldest structures in the city, while your guide transports us to the time when Tikal was a powerful ceremonial center. Walking among its ancient constructions, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle, makes this visit an authentic and memorable experience.
