What to expect

This is more than just a hands-on bamboo weaving session to make a panda — it's a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in local community life. Under the guidance of an instructor who is a recognized bearer of intangible cultural heritage, you'll create your very own bamboo-woven panda. We'll also serve you coffee or traditional Chinese jasmine tea. After the workshop, we'll take you to a local canteen for dinner — all locations are within a five-minute walk, and you'll get to experience authentic street food along the way.

Bamboo has an incredibly long history in China. In fact, its use dates all the way back to the 11th century BC. Throughout China’s history, bamboo has been used to create food, transportation, weaponry, housing, instruments, books and more!
