    Begin at Rano Kau and hike along the wild crater rim toward remote Vai a Tare. With the vast caldera on one side and sheer Pacific cliffs on the other, the trail reveals perspectives inaccessible by road. At the far side, enjoy spectacular views across the crater, Kari Kari and the offshore islets Motu Nui, Motu Iti and Motu Kao Kao, while learning about the volcano, the Birdman tradition and the archaeology of this rarely visited area.
