Porto is a postcard-perfect city, but its true richness is found in the backstreets, where urban life meets the rural roots of northern Portugal. On this full-day food tour through central Porto, we explore the city’s links to the Douro, Trás-os-Montes, and Minho across around ten stops. We begin with artisanal products from Trás-os-Montes, then continue with strong coffee and traditional pastries before exploring Cedofeita, where old food shops coexist with a growing arts scene. We taste northern cheeses, made-to-order rissoles, and sit down for lunch at a beloved neighborhood tasca, with seasonal dishes such as fresh sardines or baked duck rice. Along the way, we discover bean-to-bar chocolate from São Tomé and a mural celebrating São João. We end in a classic Porto taverna with a small glass of Port, closing a day devoted to the origins and flavors that define the city.
