Please note that reaching this remote wonder means a road-heavy journey with 9–10 hours of driving, especially between Marrakech and Merzouga (and vice versa). If you choose the return loop to Marrakech, your Day 2 journey retraces the scenic route back, meaning you will experience different landscapes than those traveling onward from Merzouga to Fes. However, we turn these long miles into an epic road trip, breaking up the drive with scenic stops at the High Atlas Mountains, Tizi n’Tichka Pass.

In the early morning, after picking you up from your hotel in Marrakech, we will journey towards the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. passing through quaint villages, cascading waterfalls,
Ascend to an altitude of 2,260 meters (7,415 feet) over the High Atlas Mountains. We make a scenic stop here for panoramic photos of the winding mountain roads and ancient clay Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides.
We pass through Ouarzazate, Morocco's famous filmmaking hub.
Travel along the spectacular road of a thousand Kasbahs, passing through Kelaat M'gouna (the Rose Valley) and the striking rock formations of the Dades Valley.
Arrive to Merzouga.
Arrive at the foot of the massive Erg Chebbi dunes in the late afternoon. Here, you switch your vehicle for a traditional camel caravan. Enjoy a peaceful camel trek across the golden dunes to your desert camp. Experience sandboarding, relax with warm Moroccan mint tea, and enjoy a traditional dinner. Spend the evening around a crackling campfire, listening to the spiritual drum rhythms and traditional songs of local Berber nomads under a star-filled Sahara sky. Stop for a breathtaking panoramic view over the Ziz Valley, the second-longest river in Morocco, famous for its massive, lush green oasis filled with hundreds of thousands of date palm trees.
Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains through the scenic Tizi n'Talghamt pass to reach the mountain town of Midelt, famous for its apple orchards and local fossil workshops, where we stop for a relaxing lunch break.
Travel through the beautiful, towering cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop here to meet, feed, and take photos with the native, wild Barbary Macaque monkeys that inhabit the forest. (Be cautious)
A quick stop in Ifrane, a unique alpine-style town built by the French in the 1930s. Known for its clean European architecture, manicured gardens, and snowy winters, it offers a fascinating contrast to the desert landscape.
Arrive in Fes by evening (around 8:00 PM / 20h00, depending on traffic), ending with a direct, hassle-free drop-off at your hotel, riad if accessible by vehicle.
