Journey deep into the Alaska Range on an unforgettable Castner Glacier adventure from Fairbanks. Travel the scenic Richardson Highway with stops at the iconic Trans-Alaska Pipeline and a breathtaking Mt. Hayes viewpoint. Watch for moose, caribou, bald eagles, and lynx along the way before hiking through Alaska’s wilderness to Castner Glacier and exploring the ice cave. An incredible day of glaciers, mountains and wildlife.
Winter Castner Glacier Hike: During the winter hike, we walk on top of a frozen creek leading towards the glacier. The hike is approximately 3 miles round trip and usually takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on the group’s pace and weather conditions. Please prepare for extremely cold weather and dress accordingly with warm, insulated layers, winter boots, face covering ,gloves and a hat.
Fall hike: wet, muddy, rocky terrain. Waterproof gear advised.

We will pick you up from your Hotel or AirBnB at 8:30 am and we will head out to Castner Glacier Ice cave. We will have a 2.5 hour journey on the Richardson Highway trough the beautiful Alaska Range. Enjoy the amazing views of the mountains and keep your eyes open for wildlife such as Moose and Caribou which are often seen crossing the road or next to it.

Enjoy a scenic 3-mile round-trip winter hike to Castner Glacier through Alaska’s snowy mountain landscape. Take in breathtaking views of the glacier and surrounding peaks while experiencing the beauty of the Alaskan winter. Castner Glacier from September through November. Experience beautiful fall scenery and changing seasonal conditions. Wet, muddy, and uneven trail conditions may be present, so waterproof footwear and rain gear are recommended.

Return to Fairbanks will be around 6pm and we will drop you off at your Hotel or AirBnB.
