Discover four different types of cenotes in one experience, each with its own natural setting and activities. From open-air pools surrounded by jungle to underground formations, the Xenotes experience lets you experience the diversity of the Ruta de los Cenotes in a single day.
Swim in clear freshwater, paddle through a cenote by kayak, soar over the jungle on a zipline, or descend by rappel into a natural cavern. Along the way, learn about the cenotes, the surrounding ecosystems, and Mayan traditions and legends about the aluxes.

1La Ruta de los Cenotes
Explore four different types of cenotes deep in the Mayan jungle with the Xenotes Tour. Located along the Ruta de los Cenotes, these natural formations include open, semi-open, cave, and ancient cenotes, each offering a different environment to discover. Experience the cenotes through a variety of activities, including swimming, kayaking, ziplining, and rappelling. As you move from one cenote to another, learn about the natural surroundings and the cultural traditions associated with these sacred freshwater pools. The experience also introduces you to Mayan legends about the aluxes, mythical spirits believed to protect the cenotes and the surrounding jungle. From underground caves to open-air cenotes, Xenotes combines nature, adventure, and Mayan culture in one experience.

- The average water temperature of the cenotes is 75 to 78° F throughout the year
- Please take into account that the cenotes are located in the middle of the jungle, so some roads to reach them are not paved and could be bumpy
- Also be aware that due to the location of the cenotes in the middle of the jungle, cell phone service is likely unavailable
- The use of the life jacket is mandatory during all water activities.
- Some activities are not suitable for pregnant women.
- Some activities are not recommended for people suffering from epilepsy, asthma, hypertension, diabetes, or with neck and/or back problems, with recent surgeries or a history of heart problems.
- Travelers will be excluded from the activities due to a medical condition such as a body cast. If they want to go, they can pay their entrance fee (same price) and can stay in the rest area.
