Visit the beautiful Bay of Islands, tropical Northland, a year-round destination and birthplace of our nation. Journey to New Zealand's northernmost point, Cape Reinga. Discover our cultural heritage at Waitangi Treaty Grounds and experience the natural beauty of the region on a scenic cruise.

This is an Independent coach tour. You will travel on a combination of touring coaches and sightseeing services with a guided tour in Cape Reinga, as well as a point-to-point Intercity coach between Auckland and Paihia, which may not have commentary. You will be with different people on each part of the tour and different drivers, offering an authentic and diverse way to experience one of New Zealand’s most iconic journeys.

You have free time to explore on your own and are free to choose where and when to eat. Meals are not included unless specified.

    Leaving central Auckland, set out on your journey to the Bay of Islands. Travelling by coach, listen to your driver's commentary as you cross the Auckland Harbour Bridge and head out of the city through the farming countryside and sub-tropical bush, stopping along the way for morning tea (own expense) before eventually reaching your first destination at Paihia.

    Board your cruise and glide past the Rakaumangamanga Peninsula to Cape Brett’s historic lighthouse and the iconic Hole in the Rock (Motukōkako), where ancient Māori warriors once paddled for good omens and your expert skipper will attempt to navigate right through the narrow cavern, weather permitting. Keep an eye out for wild dolphins, whales, and sea life from the largest viewing decks in the Bay of Islands before stepping ashore at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island to swim, explore, or relax with a drink at the beachfront café.
