Meeting and pickup
• Please be at your designated pickup point at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Our pickup vehicles are well marked with the Reykjavik Excursions logo.
• Each driver has a few stops, so it can take up to 30 minutes to finish picking everyone up, so there is no need to worry if the bus is not there right away.
BSÍ Bus Terminal is our centrally located hub in Reykjavík, just a short walk from the city center. Please be there at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure. It's the main departure point for airport transfers and day tours - making it easy and convenient to start your journey with us.

Your adventure begins in Reykjavík, where you’ll either be picked up from your hotel or meet at BSÍ Bus Terminal for departure. From there, a short 25-minute drive takes you out of the city and into the rugged landscapes surrounding Litla Kaffistofan, right on the edge of the Hengill volcanic area.

Hengill (Pass by)
Hengill is one of Iceland’s best-known volcanoes, rising 803 meters above sea level and sits directly on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates slowly drift apart. This makes the area one of the most geothermal-rich regions in Iceland with visible steam vents and geothermal formations. At higher elevation, we stop near an active geothermal borehole, where you can safely witness powerful steam rising from deep underground, a vivid reminder that Iceland is very much alive beneath your feet. Weather permitting, the tour also stops at a viewpoint with sweeping views over the surrounding landscape. In low cloud or high winds your guide may skip it.

2Hveradalir
The final stop on this tour is at Hveradalir, a steaming geothermal valley with a historic mountain lodge built in 1934. The surrounding area is filled with bubbling mud pots, steam vents, and hot springs. Please stay on marked paths, as the ground can be hot and unstable. This stop brings together local history and raw geothermal activity in one place. After this short stop, the tour returns back to Litla Kaffistofan.
