Your guide will meet you in Piazza del Campidoglio, by the statue of Marcus Aurelius, with a "Live Virtual Guide" sign.
We’ll start in Piazza del Campidoglio, to discover one of the most beautiful piazzas in Rome. This was, in fact, entirely designed by Michelangelo, who gave this place a reassuring and harmonic Renaissance look. Here we’ll see a real “milestone” (how many times you’ve used this word without knowing what it actually IS?), the statue of Marcus Aurelius (that survives still today thanks to a misunderstanding and today also decorates the Italian coins) and the iconic statue of the She-Wolf, the symbol of the legendary foundation of Rome. From the Capitoline hill we’ll enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views over the Roman Forum.. Here your jaw will drop, guaranteed.
We’ll then take some steps down the hill, to descend to the ancient Roman street level. In fact we’ll access the archaeological site of the Roman Forum (we’ll take care of the tickets for you ;)) and walk on the actual stones where Caesar, Cicero, Nero, Augustus and the millions of ancient Roman citizens used to walk every day. We’ll learn about the ordinary life of this ancient “piazza”, as well as the dramatic and iconic events that took place right here. For example, we’ll see the exact location where the funeral of Julius Caesar took place.
