Day 2
Day 2: Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park
Leave the lodge or camp at 9:00 am and drive for about ninety minutes to Tarangire National Park. This park is often referred to as the "home of elephants.” Here you will have the chance to spot elephants in large groups gathering around the Tarangire River. Other animals to be spotted include leopards, lions, giraffes, and even tree-climbing pythons

Day 3
Day 3 – Ngorongoro Highlands to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, travel through the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Serengeti National Park. As you descend toward the Serengeti plains, the landscape opens into one of Africa’s most iconic wilderness areas. Enter Serengeti and enjoy an en-route game drive in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, leopards and large herds of plains game before arriving at your tented camp.

Day 4
Day 4 – Full-Day Serengeti National Park

Spend the entire day exploring the legendary Serengeti with your private safari guide. Follow wildlife movements across the plains while searching for the Big Five, big cats and the park’s incredible resident wildlife. Depending on the season, you may also encounter large concentrations of wildebeest and zebras associated with the Great Migration. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before continuing your afternoon game drive.

Day 5 – Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy another morning of wildlife viewing in Serengeti before gradually making your way toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey provides additional opportunities for wildlife sightings while allowing you to experience the changing landscapes between the Serengeti plains and Ngorongoro Highlands. Arrive at your lodge later in the afternoon and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 6
Day 6 – Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, descend approximately 600 meters into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Explore the crater floor in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, zebras, wildebeest and, with luck, the endangered black rhino. The crater’s concentration of wildlife makes this one of the highlights of any Tanzania safari. After your game drive and picnic lunch, ascend from the crater and continue to Arusha.

Day 7 – Fly Tanzania to Rwanda – Kigali to Musanze

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Kigali, Rwanda. Upon arrival, meet your Rwandan guide and travel through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling countryside toward Musanze and Volcanoes National Park. Arrive at your lodge and spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the following morning’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 8
Day 8 – Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing before beginning your mountain gorilla trekking experience. Accompanied by experienced trackers and rangers, enter the forest in search of your assigned habituated gorilla family. Trekking time varies depending on the gorillas’ location and forest conditions. Once the gorillas are located, enjoy the permitted viewing period observing them in their natural environment—an extraordinary wildlife encounter and a fitting finale to your East African adventure. After the trek, return to your lodge and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 9
Day 9 – Musanze to Kigali – Departure

After breakfast, depart Musanze and enjoy a scenic drive back to Kigali. Depending on your international flight time, a short Kigali city experience can be arranged before transferring to Kigali International Airport for your departure. Your 9-day Tanzania and Rwanda adventure concludes with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s Big Five, the Serengeti plains, Ngorongoro Crater and Rwanda’s magnificent mountain gorillas.
