Visit Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, and the summit of Mt. Paku on this day tour from Auckland.

Following pick up from your hotel, relax in the air-conditioned minivan for the scenic 2 hour drive through the countryside to the small Coromandel town of Tairua, to make a photo and bathroom stop.

Next, take a 30 minute guided walk through the forest and along the coast to the magnificent Cathedral Cove. Spend at least 30 minutes enjoying the white sand beach, clear water, and iconic arch made famous by the Narnia films.

Lunch will be from a local café at Hot Water Beach or Hahei (own expense).

Spend some time dipping your toes in the unique natural hot springs at Hot Water Beach (schedule is tide dependent).

Finally, take an optional 15 minute guided hike to the summit of Mt. Paku - a small extinct volcano with amazing views of the coastline - or stop instead for ice creams (try famous NZ Real Fruit ice cream!)

Drive back to Auckland for your hotel drop-off in time for dinner.

    Tairua

    Make a short stop to use bathrooms, purchase coffee, and take a photo of Mt Paku from the shore of the scenic Tairua river shore.

    Cathedral Cove Walk

    Take a guided 30 minute hike along the coastline to the famous Cathedral Cove beach, enjoying stunning scenery along the way. Spend at least half an hour on the pristine white sands, exploring the iconic natural arch and dipping your feet in the clear water of the marine reserve, before returning by the same path. Please note that this track includes stairs. A water taxi may be arranged in advance for an additional cost.
