2Jebel Shams
Jebel Shams, the highest mountain in Oman and home to the famous Grand Canyon of Oman. On the way, make a short photo stop at the beautiful Al Hamra viewpoints, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and traditional villages. Continue by 4WD vehicle towards the top of Jebel Shams. Before beginning the hike, stop at the Grand Canyon viewpoint for photographs. The highlight of the trip is the famous Jebel Shams Balcony Walk, one of Oman’s most scenic mountain hikes. The trail follows the edge of the dramatic canyon, offering spectacular views of towering cliffs, deep valleys, rugged mountains, and the traditional mountain villages below. Along the way, experience the natural beauty of Jebel Shams and have plenty of opportunities to stop for photographs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The Balcony Walk is approximately 8.4 km (5.2 miles) round trip and generally takes around 4–5 hours, depending on the group’s pace and photo stops.
