Meet your guide outside Aroma Zanzibar Restaurant at The Slipway, Yacht Club Road, Msasani Peninsula. Please arrive 10 minutes before the 4:00 PM starting time. Your guide will contact you before the tour and will be easy to identify at the meeting point.

Begin your experience at The Slipway, one of Dar es Salaam’s most popular waterfront spots. Meet your guide at Aroma Zanzibar Restaurant and enjoy a short walk along the marina and seaside promenade while taking in views of the Indian Ocean, local boats, shops, and the relaxed atmosphere of the Msasani Peninsula. Your guide will introduce you to the area and share insights into everyday life in Masaki before you continue the journey by tuk-tuk.

Continue by tuk-tuk to one of the area’s old baobab trees, a striking symbol of East Africa’s natural landscape. Stop briefly to admire the enormous trunk, take photos, and hear from your guide about the cultural importance and remarkable longevity of baobab trees before continuing deeper into the local side of Msasani.

Explore the local side of Msasani as you walk through a traditional fishing community behind the main market area. See small neighborhood shops, local homes, fishermen going about their daily routines, and the unusual stranded ship along the waterfront. 5Tingatinga Arts Cooperative Society
Continue by tuk-tuk to the Tingatinga Art Centre, home to one of Tanzania’s most recognizable painting styles. Meet local artists, browse colorful artworks, and learn how Tingatinga painting developed in Dar es Salaam. Depending on the day, you may also see artists at work and learn about the techniques and stories behind their paintings. Guests are welcome to purchase artwork directly from the artists if they wish.

6Coco Beach
Finish your tour at Coco Beach, one of Dar es Salaam’s most popular local seaside gathering spots.
