What to expect
Upon arrival at the Chelsea Sugar Factory, step ashore for an insightful “mini tour” that explores the refinery’s fascinating history and modern day operations. Learn how one of New Zealand’s most well-known food producers have evolved over the years and get an up-close look at the famous “sugar mountain.”
Following the tour, take time to unwind and enjoy lunch at the factory café, or bring your own meal to savour in the picturesque surroundings. Once refreshed, climb back into your kayak for a leisurely return paddle to Westhaven Marina, completing an unforgettable experience that combines scenic adventure, local history, and a sweet touch of Kiwi heritage.
Guests must independently book the 11:00am “mini tour” at the Chelsea Sugar Factory before the experience. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch.
