What to expect
The trail moves through Avilés' pedestrianised old town, one of the best-preserved medieval centres in Asturias. La Monstrua de Avilés — the bronze statue referencing the famous Carreño de Miranda painting — is an early stop, with a riddle that connects the artwork to its surprising local story. The Palacio de Camposagrado, the grand baroque palace anchoring the city's historic skyline, brings an observation task that rewards looking at the stonework above the main doorway. The Plaza de España, Avilés' arcaded central square, features in a photo challenge that puts the group to work in one of the most photogenic spaces in Asturias. The old town is compact and unhurried.
Groups tend to get competitive on the observation tasks, where attention to detail matters more than speed.
