What to expect
At the Cine-Teatro Pax-Julia, investigate the story of this elegant early 20th-century cultural venue and the Roman forum whose name it carries.
Continue to the imposing Castelo de Beja, a Moorish fortress rebuilt in the 14th century by King Dinis, and unlock the military history embedded in its towers and battlements.
The trail then leads to the Museu Rainha Dona Leonor, housed in a former convent and packed with archaeological finds that span Beja's Roman, Moorish, and medieval layers.
The entire trail takes around two hours at a relaxed pace — you can stop for coffee, pause for photos, or take any break you like. There are no guides, no fixed times, and no group to keep up with.
