What to expect
Your first landmark is Dom St. Peter, Regensburg's magnificent Gothic cathedral. Construction began in the 13th century and continued for over 600 years — the riddles draw your attention to the extraordinary stained glass and the architectural details most visitors rush past.
From the Dom, the route leads to the Steinerne Brücke, the medieval stone bridge spanning the Danube since 1146. For centuries it was the only permanent crossing of the upper Danube, making Regensburg one of Europe's most important trading cities.
The hunt ends at the Haidplatz, a broad medieval square lined with patrician towers and historic inns. The Goldenes Kreuz here once hosted Holy Roman Emperors, and the riddles bring this layered history back to life.
