Arezzo gave the world Petrarch and Vasari — and its medieval streetscapes are as good as anything in Tuscany.
This app-led scavenger hunt takes you through Arezzo on foot, with phone-based riddles leading from one landmark to the next. No guide, no fixed start time.

What to expect
The route moves through Arezzo's medieval heart, between the Piazza Grande and the city's historic churches. The Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pieve — the 12th-century Romanesque church with its tiered campanile — features early with a riddle that sends you examining the arcade of columns on the facade. The Chiesa di San Domenico, which contains one of Cimabue's earliest works, brings an observation task that rewards careful looking. Palazzo Pretorio, its facade covered in the heraldic shields of Arezzo's former magistrates, features in a photo challenge that gets the group involved. Arezzo's steep lanes keep the pace naturally slow.
The live scoring creates good-natured competition — particularly on the clues that require reading the architecture.
The app shows final scores and a ranking when the last task is done. Arezzo's medieval centre is one of the best-preserved in Italy; the trail is a good way to understand why.
