What to expect

Starting at Via delle Prome 20 in Perugia's historic centre, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and set off into a city inhabited since before Rome was founded. No guide, no fixed start time.

Your first stop is the Arco Etrusco, one of Italy's finest surviving Etruscan gateways. Built in the 3rd century BC and later absorbed into Roman and medieval structures, it's proof that Perugia's history stretches far beyond the Renaissance.

The route then leads to the Oratorio di San Bernardino, a small 15th-century oratory with a facade so richly decorated it looks almost too elaborate to be real. The riddles will have you studying every carved figure.

Next is the Acquedotto medievale, a 13th-century aqueduct that now serves as an elevated walkway across the city. Walking its length offers a history lesson and views few visitors ever discover.

Allow around 2 hours at a comfortable pace. Perugia has depth at every turn — and this tour is the best way to feel all of it.
