What to expect
Your first landmark is the Kathedrale San Lorenzo, Lugano's cathedral perched above the old town with a Renaissance facade that belies its Romanesque origins — the interior's frescoed chapels and gilded altars are among the finest in the Ticino.
From there the app guides you to the Piazza Riforma, the main square where the Palazzo Civico — Lugano's town hall — faces the open space with a confident neoclassical simplicity, and where the city's café life plays out against a backdrop of dignified civic architecture.
The route concludes at the 'I love Lugano' installation on the lakefront, a playful contemporary landmark whose heart-shaped letters frame views across Lago di Lugano to the mountains of Italy on the far shore.
Around 2 hours on foot, with a gentle downhill walk toward the lake and an easy return by funicular or on foot.
