What to expect
From Riebeeck Square — where the earliest settlers established the city — the trail leads into the CBD, with Table Mountain framing every view. The first riddles take you past the Cape Town City Hall, whose Edwardian baroque façade witnessed Nelson Mandela's first public speech after his release in 1990.
Next, the route leads to Church Square and the surrounding historic quarter, where the city's colonial and political layers are visible in the architecture.
The app then guides you to the South African National Gallery on the edge of the Company's Garden, with its collection spanning centuries of South African art.
Around 2 hours of walking, any group size. A fully charged smartphone with mobile data is required.
