What to expect
At La Grande Plage — Biarritz's grand main beach backed by its casino — you'll tackle challenges about the resort's imperial heyday, when Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie turned this fishing village into Europe's most fashionable address.
The trail then winds to the Rocher de la Vierge, a sea stack connected to the promenade by an iron bridge, where questions probe the lighthouse, the crashing Atlantic, and the rock's protective legend.
At the Halles de Biarritz, the covered market at the heart of daily Basque life, you'll pick up points for identifying local specialities and market architecture.
The full trail takes around two hours at a relaxed pace, with no guide and no fixed schedule.
