What to expect

Starting at Medborgarplatsen 5, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and head into Södermalm's grid of cafés and courtyards. The tour is fully self-guided — no guide, no fixed start time, just your group and the city.

At the Millennium House, riddles wink at Stieg Larsson's trilogy — Lisbeth Salander's fictional Söder overlaps with the real streets under your feet.

Then it's up Skinnarviksberget, the bare rock hilltop where locals picnic above the rooftops. The panorama across Riddarfjärden doubles as a photo task.

Van der Nootska Palatset provides the plot twist: a 17th-century baroque palace tucked improbably between apartment blocks, with tales of Dutch diplomats and grand parties.

Around two hours covers the island's highlights. Finish with fika — the leaderboard tastes better with a cinnamon bun.
