Birmingham Self-Guided City Walking Tour & Scavenger Hunt

2 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

Birmingham invented the industrial revolution, then had to reinvent itself — it's still not done.

This app-led scavenger hunt takes you through central Birmingham on foot, using phone-based riddles to guide you from one landmark to the next. No guide, no fixed start time.

• Follow clues to the Library of Birmingham, the Walk of Stars, and Birmingham Cathedral — three landmarks that span from Europe's largest public library to a 300-year-old Baroque church
• Start whenever suits you and take all the time you need — no time limit, no pressure
• Works brilliantly for families, friend groups, and city-curious travellers; photo challenges along Broad Street add a competitive edge

Around 2 hours, any group size, available in English.

Britain's second city has been underselling itself for years — your phone is about to put that right.

What to expect

Starting at 14 Lower Temple Street in central Birmingham, enter your 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message into the free Explorial app and begin a self-guided trail through the heart of Britain's second city.

At the Library of Birmingham — one of the largest public libraries in Europe, with its stacked disc design and golden dome — challenges probe the architecture, the Shakespeare Memorial Room it houses, and the city's long literary tradition.

On the Walk of Stars, Birmingham's answer to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, you'll search for celebrated names set into the pavement along Broad Street and learn which local figures earned their star.

Inside Birmingham Cathedral, a rare example of English Baroque built in 1715, you'll tackle riddles about the Burne-Jones windows and the history of this deceptively small city church.

The trail takes around two hours at your own pace, with no guide and no fixed schedule.
