What to expect

Starting at the Steamship Terminal on Belleville Street, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and set off around the Inner Harbour. The tour is fully self-guided — no guide, no fixed start time, just your group and the city.

The Parliament Buildings preside over the water, their domes outlined by more than 3,000 lights after dark. Riddles sit in session on the lawn.

The Fairmont Empress follows — the ivy-clad hotel that has poured afternoon tea for royalty and movie stars for over a century. Trivia is served with proper etiquette.

Then Chinatown narrows to Fan Tan Alley, barely a shoulder-width of gambling-den history turned boutique lane, and Canada's narrowest street.

Around two hours from harbour to hidden alleys. The leaderboard declares the winner — politely, this is Victoria.
