What makes this experience special is the genuine connection to Costa Rican culture and the people who call this beautiful mountain village home. Rather than simply watching or listening, guests become part of the experience—getting hands-on with chocolate making, learning to make traditional tortillas alongside a local family, and sharing stories around the lunch table.

It's also a wonderful **multigenerational experience**, with something for everyone to enjoy! From curious kids to adventurous grandparents, everyone can participate, laugh, learn, and create memories together. Whether it's making chocolate, swimming beneath a waterfall, or sharing a homemade meal, the experience brings people together in a fun and meaningful way.

We believe the best travel memories come from the people you meet, the things you try, and the moments you share. That's what makes this experience so special.

What to expect

Head into the mountains to our family-run Chorro Ecolodge, where chocolate becomes much more than something you unwrap. Taste cacao fresh from the pod, hear the stories of the Costa Rican farmers who grow it, roast and grind the beans, sample exceptional local craft chocolates, and roll your own truffles. Eating along the way is absolutely encouraged.

While your chocolate sets, wander through the rainforest to our private waterfall for a swim, explore the river, or simply find a rock and soak it all in.

Then we head to the home of our neighbor and friend Doña Luz, where you’ll try your hand at making tortillas before sharing a traditional Costa Rican lunch cooked over her wood-burning stove.

It’s hands-on, delicious, easygoing and full of real Costa Rican flavor—equally fun for couples, groups of friends, families, and those wonderful three-generation trips where finding something everyone actually wants to do can feel like a minor miracle.

Come for the chocolate. Leave with a few stories—and probably a little chocolate on your hands.
