La Tonnara di Scopello is one of the most iconic and fascinating places in western Sicily, located a few steps from the Zingaro Reserve in the municipality of Castellammare del Golfo. It is famous for its majestic stacks that emerge from a crystal clear blue and deep green sea. History and Tradition Founded around the thirteenth century, the tuna trap has experienced centuries of maritime history, passing from the Sanclemente family to the Jesuits, to the Florio family, which modernized its fishing techniques. The activity officially ceased in 1984, leaving an immense cultural legacy.

The name Cala Bianca usually refers to two pearls of the Italian sea, one in Sicily (near where you are or were talking about) and the other in Campania. Here is the description of both: 1. Cala Bianca (Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily) Located a few kilometers from Scopello, it is a wild and uncontaminated bay, less crowded than the nearby Zingaro Reserve. www.castellammaredelgolfo.sicilia.it www.castellammaredelgolfo.sicilia.it + 2 It is not a sandy beach, but an expanse of white pebbles and polished rocks, surrounded by walls of reddish rock and Mediterranean scrub with dwarf palms. The sea : Crystal clear waters that turn from emerald green to deep blue. The seabed is rocky and rich in fish, making it a perfect snorkeling destination
