The first rapid comes almost as soon as you push off. Then another. Then another.
The Naranjo Rafting Tour is a Class III–IV white-water trip 30 minutes from Manuel Antonio. The rapids are short and punchy: a drop, a hard turn, a wave in the face, then a calm pool to regroup before the next one.
The day starts with a walk through a small spice farm, where your guide shows you vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and cacao.
On the water you’ll run Robin Hood, Cara de Indio and El Espavel. A safety kayaker goes first to lead the way. Halfway down, we stop for fresh fruit, cookies and cold drinks, then float the last stretch looking for kingfishers and white ibis.
Season: May 1 to December 14. Options: Private (your group only, minimum 2 people), Small Group (shared with other guests, minimum 3 people) or Just Rafting (no transport, minimum 4 people: meet us at Restaurante El Mordisco, on the main street of Naranjito, at 9:00 am, 11:00 am or 1:00 pm). Minimum age 12.
We will pick up our participants in any Hotel, Hostel, or Air BnB on the Quepos, Manuel Antonio area.
The trip starts at your hotel, where a minibus will pick you up and take you to the meting point where you will check in for the trip. The drive is about 35 minutes to the river, passing through Oil Palm, Melina, Teak plantations and a couple of Costarican little towns. Once there, the guides will gear you up and after a safety talk you will start your descent maneuvering the rapids of the mighty Naranjo River. The river trip last about 1 hour and 45 minutes and you will stop on one of the river shores for a delicious snack.
