Martina Franca is an important town in the Itria Valley. It is famous for its festivals and its many Baroque and Rococo-style buildings.
The tour begins in Piazza XX Settembre and Porta Santo Stefano, then continues to Piazza Roma, with the Fountain of the Dolphins and the Ducal Palace, with Baroque façade and decorated balconies and sculpted details.
Walking through the alleys of the old town, you will visit the Basilica of St. Martin, a remarkable example in Baroque style with a richly decorated façade, known for its sculptural details. In Piazza del Plebiscito, the monumental heart of the town, you will also find the University Palace and the evocative Clock Tower.
Next is the visit to Piazza dell’Immacolata and the Chapel of St. Nicholas of the Greeks, a small historic religious building linked to Byzantine tradition, with an evocative atmosphere.
