Zayed National Museum is the national museum of the United Arab Emirates, and it tells the country's story through the life and values of its Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Designed by Foster + Partners, it is the centrepiece of Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Cultural District: five towers inspired by the wing of a falcon in flight rise from the building and work like traditional barjeel wind towers to cool the galleries below. Six permanent galleries take the story from Sheikh Zayed himself to 300,000 years of human activity in the emirates, the pearling, fishing and trading towns of the coast and traditional life inland. Outside, Al Masar Garden continues it through desert, oasis and urban landscapes. This ticket is for visitors aged 18 and over; under-18s enter free, arranged directly with the museum.
Enter beneath the museum's five falcon-wing towers and follow its six permanent galleries, from the life and values of Sheikh Zayed to 300,000 years of human activity in the emirates, the pearling and trading towns of the coast and the traditional life inland. Finish outside in Al Masar Garden, where desert, oasis and urban landscapes retrace the places that shaped him.
