The Colossi of Memnon (Arabic: El-Colossat or es-Salamat) are two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned during Egypt’s Eighteenth Dynasty. Standing for more than 3,400 years since around 1350 BC, they are located in the Theban Necropolis on the west bank of the Nile, across from modern-day Luxor.
Our next stop is the East Bank of Luxor, where we will visit the impressive Karnak Temples. This vast temple complex reflects one of the greatest acts of worship in ancient history and is dedicated to the gods Amun, Mut, and Khonsu.
