We pick up passengers from their hotels, from downtown Puno and those on the shores of the lake.
After leaving the port of Puno, we will navigate across Lake Titicaca to the famous Uros Floating Islands, handmade with totora reeds. We will visit two floating islands: on the first one, a local family and our guide will explain how the islands are built and maintained, as well as their homes, boats and daily life. You will have time to walk on the floating surface, take photos, ask questions and interact respectfully with the local residents. Then, we will make a short visit to a second island, where you can enjoy another view of the lake and, if you wish, find basic services, drinks or snacks. The traditional reed boat ride and local purchases are optional.
We will arrive on Amantani Island around midday, where local host families will welcome us. After settling into their homes, we will share a home cooked lunch prepared with local products. This is the most immersive part of the tour: a chance to experience the island’s peaceful way of life, customs and warm hospitality. In the afternoon, we will hike to the upper part of Amantani to visit the Pachatata or Pachamama temple and, weather permitting, admire one of the most beautiful sunsets over Lake Titicaca. At night, depending on the community’s organization, we may join a small cultural gathering with traditional music and dances. The next morning, after a family breakfast, we will continue by boat to Taquile Island.
We will arrive on Taquile Island around 11:00 a.m., where you will enjoy a cultural experience surrounded by unique Lake Titicaca landscapes. During the visit, local residents will share part of their traditions through a demonstration of music, dances and textile art, helping us better understand the island’s identity and community organization. We will also take a moderate walk along its paths, with time to enjoy natural viewpoints, take photos and explore at a relaxed pace. Then, we will enjoy a local lunch with a beautiful view of the lake, prepared with island products. After this cultural and scenic experience, we will walk down to the port, board the boat and return to Puno.
