A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to snorkel with Giant Manta Rays in their natural habitat on the Big Island!
Parties are asked to select the ticket that best reflects their swimming ability.
Confident Swimmer:
- Comfortable swimming in the open ocean at night.
- Can remain calm while floating and following crew instructions.
Beginner Snorkeler:
- For guests with little or no snorkeling experience, or those who are not comfortable swimming in the open ocean at night.
We offer pick-up from select hotels for our sunset tour only for a small fee. Please call our office to request pick-up. If you drive yourself, arrive 30 minutes prior to the tour time.

What to expect
The raft's underwater lights attract plankton, the manta rays' natural food source. As they feed, reef mantas glide, swoop, and barrel roll beneath you, sometimes coming within inches of the raft for an unforgettable encounter.
At Iruka, we do not free dive with mantas. Instead, guests enjoy the experience while holding onto the raft. Our crew provides help and ensures your comfort. If you choose to return to the boat during the snorkel, you will stay on board for the rest of the excursion.
After your time in the water, warm up with hot cocoa, tea, and a light snack as we cruise back beneath the stars!

- If you’re prone to motion sickness, take medication an hour before departure.
- If manta rays are not seen during your tour, you're invited to join us again another night FREE OF CHARGE
- Private manta ray charters available.
