    When get to the KOPEL headquarters, ycheck in and grab a tasty local lunch while getting the lowdown on the eco-camp and its conservation goals. To reach here: Just catch a bus from Sandakan to Semporna, Lahad Datu, or Tawau, and tell the driver to drop you off at the road. It's super convenient, and you'll spot the meeting point just across the street from our office. If prefer a more direct route, we can arrange up a taxi for you! It’ll be about 450 ringgit for a car that fits 4 people, or 600 ringgit for a van that accommodates 8. Easy peasy!

    Hop on a boat for a chill ride down the Kinabatangan River to the TREC jungle lodge, the camp is nestled in an inviting areas right between an oxbow lake and the river, and the only way to reach it is by boat, all while being surrounded by lush forest.. check into a cool elevated hut or homestay that’s all about being kind to the natural world and blending in with the floodplain forest vibes.

    Embark your first wildlife river cruise as the day starts to chill out. Now's the perfect moment to catch a glimpse of Borneo's "Big Five", you may spot pygmy elephants, orangutans, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, or crocodiles. The riverbanks buzz with energy as different primate species get cosy for the night.

    Head back to camp to freshen up before dinner, savour a delicious meal made with fresh local ingredients in the camp's dining area, all while soaking in the nighttime symphony of the jungle. After dinner, take a guided stroll under the stars and dive into the jungle walk through rainforest's nighttime magic. Return and overnight at the lodge.

    Rise and shine for a sunrise river cruise! The fog rolling over the river at dawn sets a magical scene, and a great opportunity to spot birds and other little creatures starting their day along the banks.

    Head back to camp for a tasty breakfast, nice and chill or explore around. After that, check out and hop on a boat to cruise back to the base where the meeting point start.

  • This experience provides raw, immersive forest experience, not a luxury resort, it is a down-to-earth adventure, these shelters come with bucket showers and floor sleeping mats under the trees or homestay.
  • In a wildlife area, animals have the freedom to roam, so spotting them isn't a guaranted thing.
  • The jungle hut stay has bucket showers and floor sleeping mats, while the homestay has simple beds, it is all income support the local community and toward the locals here.
