  • Peschiera del Garda (Pass by)

Peschiera del Garda is one of the most fascinating villages of Lake Garda, located at the point where the river Mincio originates from the waters of the lake. Of Roman origin, it became over the centuries a powerful fortified city of the Republic of Venice. Its imposing star-shaped walls, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surround the historic center, where canals, bridges and squares tell a story spanning over two thousand years.

Peschiera del Garda- UNESCO Venetian Fortress

Looking around you you can see the Venetian Fortress of Peschiera del Garda, one of the most important examples of Renaissance military architecture in Italy. Built by the Republic of Venice from the sixteenth century, it was designed to defend the southern access to Lake Garda. Its mighty rampart walls, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surround the historic center and testify to the great strategic value of the city in past centuries.

  • Castello Scaligero (Pass by)

Looking ahead you can see the Scaliger Castle of Sirmione, one of the best preserved medieval fortresses in Italy. Built in the thirteenth century by the Della Scala family, lords of Verona, it had the task of controlling access to the peninsula and defending the lower Lake Garda. Its imposing walls, crenellated towers and rare fortified port make it one of the most iconic symbols of the territory.

  • Grotte di Catullo (Pass by)

The Catullo Caves represent the most important Roman archaeological complex on Lake Garda. These are not real caves, but the remains of a grandiose Villa built between the first century BC.C. and the first century AD.C., probably belonged to a wealthy Roman family. The name refers to the poet Catullus, originally from Sirmione, although there is no evidence that the Villa was really his residence.
