1Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa
The catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa are among the most important archaeological sites in Alexandria and date back to the 2nd century AD. They are among the seven wonders of the Middle Ages and impress with their unique combination of ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman art. The multi-storey underground tomb complex includes burial chambers, a rotunda, a banquet hall and the famous Caracalla Hall. Visitors can experience Alexandria's cultural diversity in the Roman era.

Kom el-Dikka is the most important archaeological site of Roman Alexandria. The site is home to Egypt's only Roman theatre, magnificent villas with colourful mosaic floors, Roman thermal baths and ancient lecture halls, presumably belonging to a university or philosophical academy. The complex provides a fascinating insight into Alexandria's urban life, architecture and educational culture during the Roman and Byzantine periods.

3Qaitbay Citadel
The Qaitbay Citadel was built in 1477 by the Mamluk Sultan al-Ashraf Qaitbay to protect the Egyptian Mediterranean coast. It stands on the foundations of the famous Alexandria Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Today, the fortress is one of the city’s most famous landmarks, offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and the historic port of Alexandria. Visitors will discover impressive fortifications, towers and the military history of Egypt.
