Shomyo is a form of vocal chanting in Buddhist rituals. It contains many elements which greatly influenced the later establishment of Japanese traditional music. It is considered as one of Japan’s oldest musical traditions, often compared to Gregorian Chant.
In this performance, you will have the opportunity to experience Shomyo—which is normally only heard in temples—in a concert setting.
