The road runs past Mostar and Trebinje before reaching the Adriatic at Herceg Novi, so you see the best of Herzegovina on the way. Choose a sedan or SUV for 1 to 3 guests, or a minivan for 4 to 7. The price is per vehicle, not per person, and includes fuel, tolls, bottled water and help at the border. Waiting time: the first 30 minutes are included, then €38 for each extra hour. A van entering Kotor pays a €19 tourist-vehicle fee; cars have no extra charge.

What to expect

Private door-to-door transfer from Sarajevo to Kotor or Budva on Montenegro's coast. The route heads south along the Neretva valley through Konjic to Mostar, then crosses the Herzegovina uplands via Stolac to Trebinje. From there it drops down to the sea at Herceg Novi and follows the Bay of Kotor to Kotor (311 km), continuing to Budva (330 km). Driving time is about 6 to 6.5 hours including the border crossing. Short stops for coffee, the toilet or photos are fine along the way; just tell your driver. Pickup from your hotel, apartment or Sarajevo Airport, drop-off at your accommodation in Kotor, Budva or Tivat.
