We depart from the floating jetty adjacent to to shiny "Ray White" building, near to the public toilet on the Customhouse Quay.
Please let us know if you need returned to Dunedin City from Port Chalmers. This is an added extra and will cost $35/person for the ride from Port to Dunedin.
Our departure point is from the floating jetty in the corner of Steamer Basin, under the Ray White building. Here you will board our sightseeing vessel "Adagio". We will have a quick safety briefing before our departure and hear about our itinerary for the tour.
Travel down the Victoria Channel towards Port Chalmers
Quarantine Island/Kamau Taurua is an historic quarantine station. We pass through the gap between the 2 Halfway Islands, the narrowest part of the shipping channel. Look for the shags and other sea birds along the rocky shore line.
Pass by Port Otago and the main cruise ship wharf. Hear about the history of the port and the extensive shipping.
Pass by Careys Bay, the home of the local inshore fishing fleet and the famous Careys Bay Hotel, one of the oldest in the country. You can choose to be dropped here after your cruise.
The home of the only mainland breeding colony of the Northern Royal Albatross. See these magnificent birds sitting on their nests and swooping along the cliff faces, sometimes right beside the boat.
