This is one of the largest purpose-sunk artificial reefs in the world — 510 feet of Navy ship resting at 130 feet. Over two decades of coral growth have transformed the hull into a thriving ecosystem with goliath grouper, barracuda, jacks, and moray eels on every dive. You get two dives per trip — the Spiegel Grove plus a second captain's choice site. All gear is available to rent and Nitrox is available for extended bottom time. A true bucket-list wreck dive you can only do in Key Largo.

Check in at Scuba-Fun Dive Center, 99222 Overseas Highway, Key Largo. Arrive by 7:00 AM. Morning trips only. Free parking is available on-site. Look for the sign on the highway side and check in at the front desk.

What to expect

Dive the USS Spiegel Grove — a 510-foot Navy ship resting at 130 feet off Key Largo, now one of the largest artificial reefs in the world. Decades of coral growth have turned the hull into a thriving ecosystem with goliath grouper, barracuda, jacks, moray eels, and the occasional bull shark.

Check us where the crew verifies your Advanced Open Water certification and helps with gear rentals. Board the boat for the 45-minute ride to the wreck.

Your first dive is on the Spiegel Grove — massive decks, open passageways, and structure so large you cannot see both ends from any single point. Back on the boat, the captain repositions to a second site — a shallower reef, another wreck, or the Spiegel Grove again.

Each diver must carry a dive computer and SMB — available to rent or purchase at the shop. Nitrox available at $14 per tank. Tanks and weights included. Full gear rental available as an add-on. The trip runs about four hours, returning around noon.
