What makes this tour unique for customers is the opportunity to explore the stunning Imbros Gorge, which is the second most popular gorge in Crete. The gorge offers breathtaking natural beauty and is open year-round, making it accessible even in the spring when the famous Samaria Gorge is closed. With an average walking time of about 3.5 hours, it is a manageable hike for most tourists. The narrowest part of the gorge, measuring only 1.60 meters, adds an adventurous element to the experience. The tour also includes a visit to Frangokastello Castle and Beach, known for its well-preserved Venetian castle and the mysterious phenomenon of "Drosoulites" or "dew shadows," which occurs when the sea is calm and the atmosphere is moist. The beach at Frangokastello is ideal for families with small children, as it has very shallow waters.

    Imbros Gorge

Imbros gorge is the second most popular gorge in Crete after the gorge of Samaria. Excepts its beauty, other reasons for its popularity are that the average walking time is about 3,5 hours and is open all year around which makes it especially populara in spring time (April) when Samaria gorge is still closed. Its narrowest part has 1.60 m and it ends at the village of Kommitades, located at an altitude of 780 meters and is at the South end of the fertile plain of Askyfou.

Frangokastello is in the area of Sfakia, 13 kilometres east of Chora Sfakion and west of Plakias. It is famous for its Venetian castle of the same name, which is preserved in very good condition and the ghosts ”Drosoulites” which appear at Frangokastello castle. The local people named them Drosoulites (“dew shadows”) due to the time of day that the phenomenon takes place. The phenomenon is observed when the sea is calm and the atmosphere is moist and before the sun rises too high in the sky. Right in front of the castle is a lovely beach with very shallow water, ideal for small children.
