  Hugo Grotius Statue

  Your guide meets you at the statue of Hugo Grotius on the Market Square, or at a location of your choice in the city center.

  You make your way to the south of the city center. You pass a large former armory and an office of the Dutch East India Company, and hear about Delft's role in the Golden Age of the Dutch Republic. Nearby, you see the exact spot where Vermeer stood when he painted his View of Delft.

  Maria van Jessekerk

  Walking north along Delft's second-oldest canal, you pass several interesting places, among them Delft's old synagogue. You then reach the city's Catholic church, the Maria van Jessekerk, and briefly see its interior before you continue.

  Markt

  Through the Beestenmarkt and past the former house of Johannes Vermeer, you return to the Market Square. Here stands the second-tallest church in the Netherlands. Who is buried underneath it? Your guide tells you all about it, and about the statue of Hugo Grotius and Delft's striking old town hall.

  Nieuwe Kerk

  Together with your guide, you enter the New Church, where the Dutch royal family is buried. If you like, you can also climb its tower (about 365 steps) for an impressive view over the city.

  Vermeer Centrum Delft

  Delft is the city of Johannes Vermeer. The master of light was born and raised here, and he is buried here too. At the Vermeer Centrum, you learn more about his life and work and see reproductions of all his paintings.

  You have lunch with a drink at one of Delft's historic locations. Lunch and a drink are included in the tour price.

  Old Church

  From the Market Square, you walk to the Old Church, passing Delft's former meat hall, the old house of Antony van Leeuwenhoek and Delft's second-oldest canal. Inside the church, you learn about the building and the people buried there, among them Johannes Vermeer.

  Gemeenlandshuis van Delfland

  Along the Oude Delft canal, you pass the richly decorated facade of the Gemeenlandshuis. Your guide tells you what this building is and why it was so important.

  Museum Prinsenhof Delft

  This building played a decisive role in Dutch history: William of Orange, the Father of the Fatherland, was assassinated here. Your guide tells you the story.

  Royal Delft - Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles

  You end the day at Royal Delft, the only Delft Blue manufacturer still operating since the 17th century (founded in 1653), where the pottery is still made with the same techniques. It lies outside the city center, so you are driven there. You visit the museum and the factory and learn all about Delft Blue.
