We pick up passengers from any hotel in Guayaquil
Depart from Guayaquil at approximately 7:30 AM and travel to the traditional fishing village of Puerto El Morro, one of the most important wildlife areas on Ecuador’s coast. Upon arrival, board a boat and navigate through the estuary and mangrove ecosystem. During the excursion, observe wild bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat and learn about the importance of the mangroves for local biodiversity and traditional fishing communities. The area is home to numerous bird species including frigatebirds, herons, pelicans, cormorants, ibises and other coastal birds. Along the journey, enjoy beautiful natural scenery and learn about the local culture and fishing traditions, including the harvesting of mangrove crab, an important economic activity in the region. After the boat excursion, enjoy lunch before continuing along the Ruta del Sol to Salinas. Arrive in the afternoon at approximately 3:00 PM and check in at your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
DAY 2 – SALINAS, LA CHOCOLATERA, LA LOBERÍA AND ECUASAL After breakfast, begin the day exploring the highlights of Salinas and the Santa Elena Peninsula. Visit La Chocolatera, the westernmost point of mainland Ecuador, famous for its dramatic cliffs, powerful Pacific Ocean views and spectacular coastal landscapes. Continue to La Lobería, where visitors can observe a colony of South American sea lions resting on the rocks and swimming along the coast. Next, visit Ecuasal and learn about the traditional and modern processes used to harvest sea salt. Explore the extensive salt ponds while observing resident and migratory bird species that frequent the area. The tour concludes around 1:00 PM, followed by lunch before returning to Guayaquil in the afternoon.
