2Khafre's Pyramid
The Pyramid of Khafre is one of the three main pyramids on the Giza Plateau, built for Pharaoh Khafre around 2550 BCE. Brief facts: * Slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid, but appears taller because it sits on higher ground * Still has parts of its original smooth limestone casing at the top * Part of a larger complex that includes the Great Sphinx of Giza * Located near Cairo * Part of Khafre’s funerary complex for royal burial and rituals It’s one of the best-preserved pyramids and gives a strong impression of what all the pyramids originally looked like when fully covered in polished limestone.

7Great Sphinx
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a massive limestone statue on the Giza Plateau, near the pyramids of Cairo. Brief facts: * Built around 2550 BCE, during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre * Has a lion’s body and a human head, likely representing Khafre himself * Measures about 73 meters long and 20 meters high * Carved directly from the natural limestone bedrock Purpose: It is believed to have been a guardian statue for the pyramid complex, symbolizing strength and royal power. Interesting notes: * The Sphinx is aligned with Khafre’s pyramid complex and the Valley Temple of Khafre * Its nose is missing, and its original appearance is still debated * It is one of the oldest and largest statues in the world It remains one of the most iconic symbols of ancient Egypt.
