Authentic Home Cooking Class on the Asian Side of Istanbul

3 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

This experience takes place in one of Kadıköy’s rare garden homes — not a studio, not a restaurant, but a lived-in family space where meals are made with heart. You’ll cook side-by-side with a professional chef and his mother, learning recipes that have been passed down through generations and shaped by the seasons. It’s an invitation into real Turkish life, where food isn’t just eaten — it’s shared, talked over, and remembered. Guests often say they came for the cooking, but stayed for the stories, the laughter, and the feeling of being part of a home.

What to expect

This experience takes place in Kübra's home in Uskudar: on the Asian side of Istanbul, away from the tourist trail, in a neighborhood where locals actually live.

Kübra grew up in Gaziantep, one of Turkey's most celebrated food cities, and has been cooking since she was nine years old. She spent seven years working in international settings, cooking for and alongside people from all over the world: which means she knows exactly how to make Turkish culinary tradition accessible, personal, and genuinely interesting to an outside eye.

You'll cook together side by side, preparing traditional dishes rooted in Anatolian home cooking. Kübra guides you through each step, sharing where the recipes come from, what makes Gaziantep cuisine distinct, and the stories that travel with the food. When everything is ready, you'll sit down together and eat what you made.

No cooking experience needed. This is a relaxed, hands-on session with someone who has spent a lifetime feeding people and loves doing it. Recipes are available on the LokalBond Recipes website so you can recreate the dishes at home.
