Discover the story of Bristol harbour through the food and drink that was traded here over the course of nine hundred years on this unique food and history tour.
We'll start your story around 1000 years ago, when the first imports arrived in the settlement of Brigstowe, slowly making your way to the 19th Century, when trade into the city of Bristol no longer made it past Avonmouth dock. This history will be brought to life, not only by your brilliant tour guide, but in the amazing flavours of local restaurants and bars. You'll enjoy two delightful tastings, one beautiful sit down meal and two fabulous drinks tastings, as we tell the story of how Bristol grew from a small town, to the city we know and love today.
We'll walk through the historic heart of Bristol discovering the historical significance of many iconic places.

Queen Square (Pass by)
Walk through historic Queen Square, once home to the wealthy merchants of Bristol

Stop at this historic building for a feasting platter of flatbreads and delicious kebabs and dips from this superb restaurant, spotlighting the spices, oils and grain that was traded into Bristol. We'll also visit their stunning underground club where the famous Only Fools & Horses scene with the bar was filmed!

Wander along Welsh Back and through St Nick's market to this famous bar, with many claims to fame a history dating back hundreds of years. Enjoy a delicious taste of rum from Bristol Dry Gin next to the roaring log fire (in the cooler months!). We'll learn about the trade of rum and sugar into Bristol and how this was part of the abhorrent trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Walk through Castle Park, the historic centre of the city, and visit the last remaining remnants of the Medieval castle.

Visit this small batch artisan chocolate makers. See how they make their exceptional chocolate and enjoy a tasting. We'll have a brief history of chocolate trade in Bristol too.

Finally, we'll finish our tour with a wine tasting. Wine is the oldest and longest good traded in and out of Bristol. We'll sample three Old World wines that capture the historic trade.
